2016 Pick-A-Project Update
Median Island on Piedmont Road, northbound toward Hostetter Road
Prior to being fixed, the median strip posed safety issues for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians. Although the strip was constructed to prevent flooding in the area, the road has been a hazard because it has sharp windy turns, not well lit, or properly maintained. Over the years there have been accidents and most recently, a fatality in that specific area.
BCAC proposed improvements to repair and paint the broken median curbs and metal barrier that were damaged from the recent accident. Additionally, the trees were to be trimmed to improve visibility and safety signs installed to ensure awareness for drivers and pedestrians. Former Councilman Manh Nguyen responded to BCAC’s request and the improvements are 85% completed.
